Well this was fun! Valič hired me to make a coverage of the show. Photographically I couldn’t do wonders since I couldn’t move around like on concerts and some other events, where you can move around the stage and try various angles etc. My position was static, I took all the shots from the same seat. But on the other hand it was much more comfortable and I could really relax, seat back and enjoy the show. Me and Vid (Valič) go way back, but he still cracks me up, I almost laughed my ass off a few times. I really recommend their show for everyone who likes (stand up) comedy and especially to those that aren’t familiar with it. There were also other comedians, but I’m going to post just Vid’s photos, since his gesturing and mimics were by far the best, as was his performance overall (though I liked the others as well, especially Ivan Šarič).
EDIT: I wondered why noone commented. I bunch-posted the photos with the new WP feature called gallery. And every photo had a comment section of its own…I’ve reposted the photos the old fashioned way, but now you cant enlarge them. Well it’ll have to do until I figure it out.

These two really remind me of Alan Ford

I mentioned inconsistency between CS3 and other profiles in the last post. In the comment section there’s also a dialog between me and Matjaž regarding the matter. To keep it short: There should be no differences in color, saturation, contrast etc when viewed in CS3 or in a web browser. Below you can see the difference. There is a noticeable difference between CS3 and firefox/safari pic (left CS3, right firefox) contrast level and especially colors.

Any help, solution of the problem would be appreciated!

Ok, time for a change. Not in my style of photography. Just when it comes to my model. Yes, she looks similar to the other models I’ve had sessions with. Some may say she’s just another in the line of gorgeous brunettes. She is, but what sets her apart from the rest is that she’s Russian. So if I can’t work abroad, I can at least work with foreign models, right?
So we went in Tivoli to make a “fall styled” session. There were 3 parts of the session. The warm up part in the shade, with soft lighting. This part is always necessary with debuting models. Then we moved to the sunny part of the park, to make some “gegenlicht” shots. It was a bit tricky, because of the big 120 cm reflector that I used. It just isn’t nearly firm enough to hold it with one arm (and shoot with the other). The photo below is from the third part. It’s the only part I was able to make a few good shots. In the first two we had a lot of hair problems. Because every time she tilted her had in any way but backwards her hair partly covered her eyes. And that really interfered with the workflow; you make one shot (sometimes we managed to make a few), tell her to make a slight adjustment to her posture or head position and BANG, hair over her eye(s). With interruptions like that, it’s impossible to make a good photo. As most of you know, the interaction between the model and photographer must be good, relaxed. And you gradually make better and better photos with each tiny alteration, change of mimic, posture etc. So we did manage to skip all but the backward head tilts and made this shot.

EDIT: The photo looks a bit more contrast and desaturated when viewed in internet browsers. I guess my adobe profile isn’t calibrated…I’ll resolve that before my next post (that gives me a lot of time to
) .
It was a great experience. I faced an obstacle like that for the first time (and I’ve shot a lot of models). I guess it’s a first time for everything. I’m glad we overcame it. I think one gains experience with overcoming problems and/or challenges.

Let me know. In the last 10 days I got 3 clients that needed models. And they were all very satisfied with them. You know that my models are the shit, right? ;)
If it keeps on going like that I’ll be earning more from model commissions than from photography during the winter
.
Oh I almost forgot; you can find ‘em in the sessions category.
P.S. A new session post will follow soon. I intended to shot a session this weekend, but I caught a bad case of cold. And the model is going to be interesting too, exotic. So ya’ll best stay tuned!

Yeah that’s my first blog post written on my new Macbook pro. I’m not gonna tell you how awesome it is. I need a bit more time to get used to. Then I might just go running around like a lunatic, praising it. Almost like thousands and thousands of apple fanatics across the world. So far I like it. I still need to get a handle on some basic stuff, as well as some advanced. It is already basically set up (web browser, mail, msn etc), I still have to install all of the photo software and a few other programs (video players etc). So far I really like the simplicity, router installation and getting it up and running was a piece of cake. Drivers? What the hell is that? Anti virus software? Don’t need it on a Mac. See, those are the things I already love about it. I have some problems with blue tooth that I have to solve - I can’t transfer files from my mobile phone. And I have to swap that damn keyboard layout (Z and Y are swapped), that’s really driving me crazy
.
If my writting bored you, take a look at some of the apple commercials. Hilarious stuff! I recommend pep rally, office stress and yoga (under 2008 not latest ads).
P.S. And I LOVE Mac’s trackpad. I’m gonna use my mouse just for PS work. It+s just so big and you can do incredible stuff with it, like swipe through photos (ok you can use the arrow keys for that as well), but swiping through pages or web pages (instead of always looking for those back/forward buttons) is fun and a lot faster way to go through your pages as well.

This is going to be a short post. Almost as short as the session I’ve had with Simona. We took some shots for the cover of Ona, nothing fancy, mostly just the kind of photos that are suitable for the cover (head and head&shoulder shots). It was her first photoshoot, but she was already pretty relaxed when we started. We made a few series of shots without the hood at the beginning, but I like these better.

Her eyes are really special.

I forgot to mention that all the shots were taken with Canon 1Ds mkIII and 85 1.8. I absolutely love the results, colors are really great, as well as tone/contrast gradation. I just didn’t particularly like to wait a minute or so in Lightroom 2 for every single photo to load (it takes a couple of seconds for 30D files in Raw shooter and up to around 5 seconds for 1Ds mkII files).

I wanted to shoot a session like this for a long time. I’ve had similar brutal and bloody ideas from my early days of photography. That would be for around 3 years now. And a few months ago I finally gathered a team, that is capable of doing it. Not that I’ve tried really hard, but I did ask one of my favourite models a few years ago, if she was interested. Although she was pretty crazy, she wasn’t crazy enough to do it. You know, all girls just wanna be beautiful. So boring. And I did google up same fake blood recipes too. So to get back to the matter, both Špela and Tina (which you also probably know from this magazine cover) were all for it. We were all for it. You need that to do something like this.
So what I really wanted to do for so long is something bloody. Messy. Psychopathic. Enjoy and don’t forget to enlarge for best viewing experience (all the photos are straight from Rawshooter, no PS whatsoever).

You might know her from the previous post, Eva Longoria. You might know her as kesh peechka, but in the real world her name is Špela. And this time, I didn’t give her any role to play. But I do have something planned for the future, as it would be really a shame not to take advantage of her (acting) talent. And to be honest, we’re both a bit sick and tired of making just the normal, average photos, with no concept whatsoever (the last session was normal because I needed a cover shot and wanted to “test” the awesome environment, which you can partly see on one of the shots). I don’t really enjoy photography anymore, joy is gone, I don’t take photos unless I get payed to do it. A couple of years ago I was psyched to shoot with a flagship camera/good lenses. Hell I was psyched just to have a session. Now 1Ds mkII is just collecting dust in my room, for three weeks straight (ok I did shoot the shots in this post with it).
Anyway I’ll stop whining and post the rest of the shots that we’ve made (ENLARGE for best viewing experience):
